About the role

Position Summary:
The Global Portfolio Asset Manager (GPAM) is responsible for maximizing the long-term value of new and existing Active Ingredients (AIs) through excellence in Product/Portfolio Life Cycle Management. The GPAM will lead the overall strategy of the portfolio and manage its business for long-term health and profitability.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Execution:
  • Develop and manage a 5-year strategic plan to optimize the return on intellectual, physical, and financial assets within the portfolio.
  • Collaborate with regional, country, and functional teams to develop medium and long-term strategies that deliver on the 5-year plan, ensuring sustainable competitiveness and alignment with grower needs.
  • Continuously communicate strategies to key stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution.

Portfolio Management and Cross-Functional Leadership:
  • Lead Global Portfolio Asset Teams (GPAT), setting and driving strategic projects to achieve the 5-year plan, including initiatives such as new molecule development, regulatory mitigation, cost reduction, and gap analysis.
  • Define and implement both organic and inorganic growth strategies, expanding market presence and identifying new opportunities aligned with the 5-year strategic plan.
  • Lead the launch plans for new AIs in collaboration with regional marketing teams in key introductory countries.
  • Develop and drive post-patent strategy to maximize the value of AIs throughout their lifecycle, ensuring timely execution across regions and functions.

Business Case Development and Financial Management:
  • Challenge and validate business cases for R&D, production, and third-party licensing investments, gaining approval through governing bodies.
  • Ensure that value pricing evaluations for strategic formulations in key countries are up to date.
  • Lead AI forecasting processes annually and challenge regional sales performance, margin, and forecasts monthly through global S&OP and business planning.
  • Prepare AI allocation plans as necessary and secure approval at global S&OP meetings.
  • Establish and adjust functional area budgets in line with the strategic plan and project needs.

Required Qualifications:
  • Background in Sales, Customer Marketing, or R&D Management with strong experience in crop protection.
  • Solid understanding of market dynamics in crop protection , including trends and key drivers.
  • Experience with leveraging new technology and digital tools to manage complex projects, with a deep understanding of alternative technologies.
  • Ability to anticipate societal and economic challenges in the crop inputs market and lead through change with an open mindset.
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience in influencing cross-functional teams and engaging a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think long-term and drive business success.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or other advanced degree in business or a related field.
  • Experience in strategic negotiations and project management.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Italian, or Portuguese is preferred.

Job Expectations / Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments as required.
  • Some travel may be necessary to collaborate with regional and global teams, as well as to attend industry events and conferences.
