About the role

Data Center Technician – Hardware, Network & Critical Facilities
*Roles based in Buffalo, NY, Mid West, or West Texas (multiple campuses)*
Up to $200k base and pre-IPO equity (range is $130k - $200k depending on experience)
Futura is seeking Data Center Technicians across Hardware, Network, and Critical Facilities disciplines to support large-scale, mission-critical digital infrastructure environments supporting AI, hyperscale, and high-performance computing operations.
Successful candidates will support the deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational readiness of critical infrastructure systems within a fast-paced 24/7 data center environment.
This role requires strong technical aptitude, operational discipline, and the ability to work safely within live production environments.
Responsibilities
Hardware Operations
• Install, rack, and cable servers, storage systems, and network hardware
• Perform hardware diagnostics and break/fix activities
• Replace failed components including drives, memory, GPUs, power supplies, and motherboards
• Execute server deployments and decomissions
• Support asset tracking and inventory management
• Perform firmware and BIOS updates
• Maintain accurate operational documentation and ticketing records
Network Operations
• Install and troubleshoot copper and fiber cabling infrastructure
• Perform patching and cross-connect activities
• Support switch, router, and optics deployments
• Troubleshoot connectivity and physical layer issues
• Maintain structured cabling standards and labeling accuracy
• Support network maintenance windows and change management procedures
Critical Facilities Operations
• Monitor and maintain UPS systems, switchgear, generators, PDUs, CRAC/CRAH units, and cooling systems
• Respond to alarms and operational incidents
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance activities
• Support electrical and mechanical system inspections
• Assist with facility shutdowns, commissioning, and startup procedures
• Ensure compliance with all environmental health and safety procedures
Qualifications
Required
• Experience working within data center, mission-critical, industrial, telecommunications, or technical operations environments
• Ability to troubleshoot technical systems and follow operational procedures
• Familiarity with ticketing systems and operational documentation
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to lift equipment and work within active operational environments
• Willingness to work shifts, nights, weekends, and on-call schedules as required
Preferred
• Experience supporting hyperscale or AI infrastructure environments
• Knowledge of Linux, networking fundamentals, or critical facility systems
• Fiber optic installation and troubleshooting experience
• Electrical or mechanical systems exposure
• OEM hardware deployment experience
• Experience with liquid cooling or high-density compute environments
