The Vice President of Product Engineering at Frazer reports to the President , and is responsible for leading and executing Frazer’s product and engineering strategy, overseeing all engineering functions, personnel, and product development initiatives. This role owns the design, development, and continuous improvement of Frazer’s products and manufacturing processes, ensuring alignment with company growth objectives, operational capabilities, and customer needs. What Does a Week in the Life of the Vice President of Product Engineering Look Like?
Champions and enforces a Safety First culture across all engineering and product development activities.
Establishes and maintains engineering processes that ensure accurate and timely release of production job orders, including Bills of Material (BOMs) and work instructions.
Owns and continuously improves systems that reduce BOM errors, work instruction defects, and downstream production issues using data-driven metrics.
Leads the development, design, and validation of new products, systems, and manufacturing processes aligned with business strategy.
Builds and leads a high-performing engineering organization with clear accountability for performance and development.
Establishes priorities and allocates resources across engineering initiatives to support new product development and continuous improvement.
Oversees engineering validation strategies including testing protocols and product verification processes.
Defines and enforces engineering standards, specifications, and success criteria.
Partners with Sales and customers to translate market needs into scalable engineering solutions.
Serves as the executive technical leader ensuring alignment between engineering, operations, and sales.
Oversees design and development of fabricated components and systems for manufacturability and cost-efficiency.
Implements engineering metrics that drive improvements in quality, throughput, cost, and delivery.
Leads departmental budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning.
Develops and mentors engineering leadership including succession planning and organizational growth.
Establishes systems for effective work prioritization and cross-functional coordination.
Represents Frazer in industry engagements to support innovation and market awareness.
Drives continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and manufacturing integration.
Ensures adherence to company policies, safety programs, and core values.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related discipline preferred)
12–15+ years of progressive experience in engineering, product development, and manufacturing environments
5+ years of senior leadership experience (Director level or above), including leadership of managers and cross-functional teams
Demonstrated success in leading engineering organizations within Engineer-to-Order (ETO) and/or Configure-to-Order (CTO) environments
Proven track record of delivering business results, including improvements in product cost, quality, manufacturability, and time-to-market
Experience driving new product development and product lifecycle management in a manufacturing setting
Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their integration with engineering and production processes
Preferred Education and Experience:
M.S. Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
