Firm Advice is searching for a Head of Legal* to serve as the first in-house legal hire for a dynamic, high-growth healthcare tech company. This individual will act as the internal legal point person in a fast-moving environment, owning day-to-day legal operations with a particular focus on healthcare/business contracting, employment matters, and compliance. This role is ideal for a legal-first operator who has previously served as the first or second in-house attorney at a startup or growth-stage company and has personally managed people and employment risk in a fast-paced setting. This role is fully remote for candidates outside commuting distance of their offices in Northern Virginia. Work can be performed on a hybrid basis for those within commuting distance of Northern Virginia. Requirements:
J.D. from an accredited law school and member in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar.
Experience as a first or second in-house attorney at a startup or high-growth company strongly preferred.
Substantial hands-on experience with healthcare and business contracting
Demonstrated employment law experience, including handling terminations, employee relations issues, and risk management in a dynamic setting.
Ability to serve as the primary internal legal advisor, managing day-to-day legal matters independently.
Experience coordinating with and managing outside counsel.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
