About The Role
As a Senior Software Developer within CoverMyMeds Specialty Access and Affordability, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and delivering innovative software solutions that directly impact patient access to medications. Your work will support essential workflows such as prior authorization, affordability programs, and patient enrollment, ensuring that patients receive the necessary therapies without undue delay. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to healthcare technology that improves lives on a large scale.
You will operate as a senior individual contributor, taking ownership of meaningful technical work from inception through deployment. Collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams, you will develop scalable, cloud-native solutions that meet high standards of quality and operational stability. Your role involves not only coding but also influencing best practices, mentoring teammates, and continuously enhancing the engineering processes to ensure efficient, reliable delivery.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields, along with typically 7+ years of relevant professional experience. Demonstrated expertise in modern backend and full-stack development, especially with TypeScript and JavaScript, is essential. Candidates should have hands-on experience with technologies such as Node.js, React, GraphQL, and event-driven systems like Kafka. Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Azure or similar, and experience building and integrating APIs across distributed systems are required.
Strong fundamentals in software engineering, including testing, version control, CI/CD, and observability, are crucial. The ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within a team is highly valued. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a passion for continuous learning and improvement.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy features and services that support McKesson's Specialty Access and Affordability products, including our FHIR-based data platform.
- Own the delivery of complex features end-to-end, from requirements gathering through implementation, testing, and operational readiness.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while adhering to engineering standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions, surfacing risks and dependencies early in the process.
- Participate actively in design discussions, code reviews, and sprint planning, providing constructive feedback and innovative ideas.
- Share knowledge through mentorship, pairing sessions, and informal coaching to foster team growth and technical excellence.
- Enhance system performance, reliability, observability, and operational stability by implementing best practices and automation.
- Participate in on-call rotations and support activities to ensure continuous system availability and performance.
