About The Role
The Applications Analyst III at Hackensack Meridian Health plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business needs and technological solutions. This position involves gathering detailed business requirements, conducting thorough needs assessments, and developing functional specifications to ensure that healthcare information systems meet organizational objectives. The role requires a high level of independence, technical expertise, and leadership, as the analyst works with minimal supervision and mentors less experienced team members. A key aspect of this position is maintaining and optimizing Epic Reimbursement Contracts Administration, specifically within Professional Billing and Hospital Billing modules. The analyst collaborates closely with IT teams, vendors, and clinical staff to support the deployment, upgrade, and troubleshooting of healthcare applications, ensuring seamless operational workflows and enhanced user experiences.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in information technology or a related field. A minimum of three years of IT experience, preferably within healthcare, is required, or alternatively, two years of IT experience coupled with two years of clinical experience. The ideal candidate demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of healthcare IT systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Proficiency in desktop applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook is essential. Effective communication skills, both oral and written, are necessary for creating clear documentation and collaborating with diverse teams. Certifications in Epic or other relevant healthcare applications are highly preferred, as they validate technical expertise and commitment to professional development.
Responsibilities
  • Gather and analyze business requirements from clinical and administrative stakeholders to inform system design and improvements.
  • Install, upgrade, and configure healthcare applications and modules, ensuring optimal performance and stability.
  • Assist in coordinating end-user support activities, providing training and troubleshooting assistance to ensure smooth adoption of new systems.
  • Participate actively in project meetings, offering technical insights and updates on application statuses.
  • Provide go-live support for new applications, modules, and system functionalities, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Analyze and recommend necessary modifications to applications, working with IT teams and vendors to implement updates.
  • Interpret user requirements and explore potential solutions, guiding clients toward the most effective and efficient outcomes.
  • Evaluate operational workflows and how they integrate with healthcare systems, identifying areas for process improvement.
  • Create detailed system specifications based on user needs and develop comprehensive test plans for system upgrades and new implementations.
  • Document all testing outcomes, review test plans for accuracy, and ensure thorough validation of system changes.
  • Manage application implementation, troubleshoot issues, and provide ongoing support to end-users.
  • Communicate effectively through oral presentations and written reports to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Handle moderately complex issues independently, escalating more complex problems to senior staff when necessary.
  • Maintain and update system, operational, and departmental documentation to ensure clarity and continuity.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process enhancements to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide on-call support for critical applications to address urgent issues outside regular working hours.
  • Adhere to organizational standards, competencies, and behavioral expectations to foster a positive work environment.
