About The Role
The Applications Analyst III at Hackensack Meridian Health plays a vital role in supporting and enhancing our healthcare information systems. This position involves gathering and analyzing business requirements, conducting needs assessments, and developing detailed functional specifications to ensure that technology solutions align with organizational objectives. The analyst will work independently with minimal supervision, providing mentorship to junior team members and acting as a resource within the department. A key aspect of this role is the management of Epic Reimbursement Contracts Administration, requiring certification in either Professional Billing or Hospital Billing. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with clinical and administrative teams to optimize system performance, facilitate smooth implementations, and support ongoing operational needs, ultimately contributing to improved patient care and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in healthcare, information technology, or related fields.
  • A minimum of three years of IT experience, preferably within healthcare settings, or two years of IT experience combined with two years of clinical experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare information systems, workflows, and clinical processes.
  • Ability to work independently, effectively manage time, and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in desktop applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, capable of creating clear documentation and conveying technical information effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and departments, fostering a cooperative work environment.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.

Education, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science, or related discipline.

Licenses And Certifications Required
  • Epic Reimbursement Contracts Administration certification in Professional Billing or Hospital Billing.
  • Relevant certifications in healthcare IT applications or systems are an added advantage.

Responsibilities
  • Effectively share knowledge and mentor junior team members, including Applications Analyst I.
  • Install, upgrade, and configure new and existing applications and components, validating work and ensuring system stability.
  • Coordinate end-user support activities, providing timely assistance and issue resolution.
  • Participate actively in meetings across departments to facilitate communication and project alignment.
  • Provide go-live support for new applications, modules, and functionality, ensuring smooth transitions.
  • Analyze business and clinical needs, translating requirements into technical specifications and system designs.
  • Work with IT teams and vendors to implement necessary system modifications, ensuring alignment with user needs.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for new systems, upgrades, and modifications, documenting outcomes thoroughly.
  • Manage application implementation, troubleshooting, and ongoing support to maintain optimal system performance.
  • Communicate project updates, technical information, and recommendations effectively through oral and written channels.
  • Handle moderately complex issues independently, escalating more complex problems to senior staff as needed.
  • Maintain and update system documentation, operational procedures, and departmental workflows.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality.
  • Provide on-call support for critical applications, ensuring availability outside standard hours when necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, supporting the overall goals of the IT and healthcare teams.
  • Adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior, promoting a professional work environment.
