About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team at the Woodward location. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting for the site. This position involves managing the monthly financial close process, preparing journal entries, and analyzing financial data to support operational decision-making. The Senior Accountant will also be responsible for preparing key financial statements, KPI reports, and maintaining documentation to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. Additionally, the role includes supporting internal and external audits, assisting with budget preparation, and conducting spare parts reviews annually. Beyond core accounting functions, the incumbent will participate in goal-setting initiatives and safety leadership activities, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety awareness. Effective communication and collaboration with various departments are essential to succeed in this role.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field, with five to seven years of progressive accounting experience. Proven proficiency in accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting is essential. The candidate should demonstrate strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications, and possess a keen eye for detail and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent organizational skills, along with clear verbal and written communication, are required to effectively collaborate across teams. A commitment to maintaining a drug- and alcohol-free workplace and adherence to safety policies is mandatory. Candidates with experience in manufacturing or industrial settings will have an added advantage.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the financial close process for the Woodward site, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all accounting activities.
  • Review, analyze, and prepare journal entries to reflect financial transactions accurately.
  • Process distributions and assessments, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Handle product costing activities, including cost analysis and reporting.
  • Perform balance sheet variance analysis to identify and address discrepancies.
  • Develop and monitor local key performance indicators to support operational goals.
  • Reconcile accounts regularly to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Conduct monthly plant cost variance analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Enhance local financial and cost reporting processes for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Oversee asset componentization, retirement, and closure activities in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls, working closely with the Internal Controls Department to identify and rectify process deficiencies.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance with internal control requirements.
