Fennemore has an excellent opportunity for a full-time remote or hybrid COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST (depending on location) to support the firm’s growing communications needs. This role is ideal for a strong writerand organized communications professional with experience supporting corporate communications, digital content, internal and external messaging, and social media execution.
Reporting to the Director of Communications, this role will help draft, edit, coordinate, publish, and analyze communications across firm channels, including web, email, internal platforms, events, PR-related materials, and social media. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, independent, collaborative, and comfortable moving projects forward in a fast-paced professional services environment.
What You'll Do
As a Communications Specialist, your responsibilities will be:
  • Support the Communications team with day-to-day communications projects, including blogs, internal communications, events communications, website copy, social media content, and other content development.
  • Support PR-related communications, including press releases, media announcements, attorney news, and repurposing earned media or firm news for web, email, and social channels.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, marketing, business development, and other internal teams to gather information and produce polished and accurate communications.
  • Copyedit content for clarity, grammar, tone, brand consistency, and audience relevance.
  • Adapt content across channels, including web, email, social media, internal platforms, and event materials.
  • Track communications deliverables, and help maintain organized project documentation, timelines, calendars, and status updates.
  • Create engaging social media copy across multiple platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, X, Instagram, and YouTube.
  • Plan, schedule, post, and share content across the firm's social channels.
  • Engage with followers and firm content as appropriate, using sound judgment and established brand guidelines.
  • Monitor social media performance metrics and prepare regular analytics summaries with insights and recommendations.
  • Stay current on social media and professional services digital communications best practices, applying relevant insights to improve the firm’s digital presence.
  • Help develop and maintain social media best-practice resources and support LinkedIn/social media guidance for attorneys and new hires.

As part of our commitment to collaboration and excellence, this role requires flexibility in daily work schedules during periods of high workload, adhering to departmental and Firm goals and policies, and performing other duties as assigned to support the success of the department and organization.
What You'll Bring
You'll be successful in this role if you have the following: You are drafting and editing accurate, polished, brand-aligned communications with minimal revisions; managing multiple communications deadlines with confidence; building strong relationships with internal stakeholders; supporting consistent and digital content execution; and contributing ideas to improve the firm’s internal and external communications.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in communications, social media, project management, content writing, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a deep understanding of grammar, style, and tone, and the ability to adapt tone for different audiences and channels.
  • Experience drafting social media copy that drives engagement and aligns with brand messaging, especially for professional audiences.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) and tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social).
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) and project management tools.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to support brainstorming, drafting, editing, and workflow efficiency, in accordance with firm policy.
  • Collaborative working style with the confidence to gather information from busy stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Willing to travel to other offices up to 10% of the time.
  • Experience in a law firm, professional services, agency, or other reputation-sensitive environment preferred.
  • Experience supporting social media, PR, and professional communications preferred.
