We support projects involving solar generation, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations and power interconnection facilities. About the Role Core Grid Partners is seeking experienced Senior Electrical Engineering Consultants to support owner’s engineering and project advisory activities for utility-scale energy infrastructure projects. This role will support projects through multiple phases including development, preliminary design, procurement, EPC execution and commissioning. The position is ideal for engineers with EPC, developer, or owner’s engineering experience who want to contribute on a contract or fractional basis to technically complex renewable energy projects. Responsibilities Project Engineering Support
Provide engineering support during project development, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases
Coordinate with project managers, engineers of record, and EPC contractors
Assist with resolution of engineering issues during construction and project startup
Owner’s Engineering & Preliminary Design Support
Support owner’s engineering activities for utility-scale solar, BESS, substations, and power interconnection facilities
Provide preliminary design support for PV, BESS, substations, and related balance-of-plant electrical systems
Support development of design criteria, technical requirements, and engineering basis documentation
Help define owner requirements for major electrical systems and interfaces during early project phases
Support evaluation of design options, technical approaches, and major equipment application during project development and EPC contracting
EPC Procurement & Owner-Furnished Equipment Support
Support development of EPC RFP technical exhibits
Develop procurement specifications for major electrical equipment, including:
PV inverters
Battery energy storage systems (BESS) / PCS
Medium-voltage transformers
Collector system equipment
Substation equipment
Protection and control systems
Support owner-furnished equipment strategy, technical specification development, and procurement coordination
Support technical evaluation of vendor proposals and equipment selections
Engineering Verification
Review EPC engineering deliverables and electrical design packages
Review plant electrical systems, including single-line diagrams, MV collector systems, grounding, protection, and substation interfaces
Verify engineering designs comply with project specifications and performance requirements
Identify technical risks or design gaps affecting project performance, reliability, or constructability
Vendor Contract Administration
Review vendor equipment drawings and technical submittals
Verify vendor deliverables comply with procurement specifications and contract requirements
Evaluate vendor RFIs and technical clarification requests
Assess vendor deviations and recommend technical resolutions
Support vendor contract administration activities related to technical compliance and deliverable review
Support coordination between EPC contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
8–20+ years of electrical engineering experience in power infrastructure or renewable energy
Experience with utility-scale solar and battery storage projects
Experience in EPC, developer, or owner’s engineering environments
Strongly Preferred
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
Electrical engineering background focused on power systems
Experience supporting utility-scale renewable project development and delivery
Relevant Technical Experience Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly valued:
Solar and BESS plant electrical design
Power systems and interconnection
Substation and transmission infrastructure
Protection and control systems
Equipment specification and vendor coordination
