Contact of Burlington County is a nonprofit organization providing free services to Burlington County, New Jersey. Contact is the designated Sexual Violence Provider for Burlington County, a Crisis Lifeline center, and provides an Emotional Support Helpline. We are looking for an Accountant – Part Time that will collaborate closely with the President/CEO, Operations Manager and external Accountant. The position offers a flexible work schedule of 10-20 hours per week. Position Responsibilities
Transactional activities including accounts payable and payments.
Review and post vendor transactions amongst grants including expense of prepaid expenses.
Create and post journal entries.
Investigate any vendor invoices for proper coding and grant assignment.
Attach documentation for vendor transactions and cash receipts in accounting system.
Monthly revenue recognition, deferred revenue, billing, cash receipts associated with grants and general contributions.
Monthly Bank Reconciliations and other account reconciliations.
Ensure that all expenditures are appropriately categorized.
Review Accounts Receivable and match invoices with payments to clear them.
Review Accounts Payable aging and submit checks for timely vendor payment(s).
Ensure that all deposits are appropriately categorized.
Allocate and post payroll (and associated benefits) by grant.
Create new grants and enter associated budget.
Grant tracking, monitoring, reporting and forecasting.
Produce monthly year-to-date grant reports to ensure spending is on track.
Review grant spending with operations and provide directional feedback.
Cash flow projections and monitoring by grant.
Produce monthly financials statements for the Board and by grant for operations which are submitted to the government.
Assist in producing annual Budget and prepare schedules for presentation.
Vendor maintenance and preparation of 1099s.
Maintain organized online filing system: files invoices, reimbursements, insurance information and other financial records.
Assist in the development and implementation of systems and procedures as needed.
Monitor and create product/services for Grants in the accounting system for proper tracking.
As grants are modified, make corresponding changes in the accounting system.
Maintain the chart of accounts in the accounting system.
Preparation for outside audits.
Financial resource for President/CEO, Operations Manager.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skill Sets
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance
3+ years of related experience that can come from public accounting and/or industry.
Working knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and accounting systems.
Intermediate to strong Microsoft Excel skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook).
Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks including Projects.
Non-profit/restricted accounting experience a plus.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Demonstrates a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues and positive attitude.
