**The Role **

This is a founding role for an engineer who moves fast, takes ownership of everything they touch, and has the robotics chops to deserve that ownership. You have spent meaningful time deploying robots, debugging cells, training policies, and shipping into real production environments. You also operate at the pace of a founder: short cycles, blunt prioritization, willingness to make calls and own the consequences.

You will partner closely with the founders, help set the technical direction for the robotics side of Conduit, and personally ship the platform pieces that determine how fast we can deploy the next fifty cells. The role rewards urgency, taste, and end-to-end ownership over specialization.

**What You’ll Do **

- Move fast on the robotics platform. Decide what we build, what we buy, and what we adapt from open source, and then build it this week.

- Refactor off-the-shelf hardware to best serve Conduit and our customers.

- Drive timelines forward, driving forth an ambitious iteration velocity that your team is eager to contribute to.

- Bring AI-native judgment to the stack. You do not need to be the foundation-model expert in the room, but you must know enough to call the right shots about where modern ML belongs and where it does not.

- Hire and mentor the next robotics engineers as the team grows. Set the bar for both depth and urgency.

**Who You Are **

- 5+ years of hands-on robotics work that includes real production deployments. Factory, warehouse, AV, aerospace, defense.

- Founder-grade urgency. Past evidence required: a project you led or startup you founded/early employee, a team you led through a hard launch, a project that visibly moved because you were on it.

- You span the stack. Not necessarily the deepest in any one layer, but credible across software, controls, perception, and modern ML, and you can hold the whole package in your head.

- You write production code in Python and ideally C++.

- You are AI-native enough to not be intimidated by VLAs, learned policies, or modern perception, and pragmatic enough to use a PID when that is what is called for.

- You are able to be decisive under pressure with incomplete information.

**The Role **We're seeking a talented Robotics Engineering Intern with a strong interest in SLAM, perception, and autonomous navigation. This is a paid internship role with the opportunity to work on real robotics systems in production environments, and a clear path to full-time employment upon graduation.

**What you'll do **

- Build robust localization and mapping systems. Develop and improve SLAM pipelines that enable robots to localize reliably and build accurate maps in real-world factory environments.

- Fuse sensor data into reliable state estimates. Work on perception and estimation pipelines that combine cameras, IMUs, and other onboard sensors for robust pose estimation and navigation.

- Improve autonomy in challenging environments. Tackle real-world problems such as dynamic lighting, motion blur, fast moving vehicles, and changing environments to make localization and mapping more reliable on hardware.

- Develop mapping and optimization systems. Contribute to pose graph optimization, filtering based methods, map maintenance, and dynamic mapping data structures that support long term robot operation.

- Prototype fast, deploy faster. Test algorithms directly on live robotic systems, evaluate performance with real sensor data, and iterate quickly based on what actually works on the factory floor.

- Debug across the full robotics stack. Troubleshoot software, hardware, and system level issues across sensing, calibration, perception, and navigation pipelines.

- Research and apply practical improvements. Explore online sensor calibration strategies, online map optimization techniques, and other methods that improve SLAM robustness in production settings.

- Explore and prototype learning based SLAM methods. Investigate data driven approaches that improve robustness across dynamic environments, challenging lighting conditions, fast motion, and other real-world failure cases.

- Collaborate across teams. Work closely with robotics, backend, and deployment teams to integrate perception and localization capabilities into larger robotic systems.

**Who You Are **

- Someone with strong proficiency in C++ and Python for robotics development.

- Comfortable with core SLAM and estimation concepts such as pose graph optimization, Kalman filters, filtering based methods, and mapping data structures.

- Experienced with robot perception, localization, navigation, or SLAM through projects, research, or hands-on development.

- Familiar with computer vision fundamentals including feature extraction, feature matching, camera models, and camera calibration.

- Comfortable working with real robot sensor data from cameras, IMUs, and related onboard systems.

- Experienced with ROS or ROS 2 and familiar with tools commonly used in robotics software development.

- Able to work practically and methodically through ambiguous real-world robotics problems and turn theory into systems that run reliably on hardware.

- Curious, mathematically grounded, and excited to solve hard problems in localization, perception, and navigation.

- Experience integrating industrial robots (Fanuc, ABB, UR, MiR, Omron, etc.).

Head of Robotics

**The Role **

Over the last five years, the way robots interface with the world has shifted from hand-engineered mathematical control to learned policies. We believe the next generation of factory automation will be built by people whose default mental model is modern ML, and who carry enough classical robotics to make that ML survive contact with the real world.

As an AI-Native Roboticist at Conduit, you will take off-the-shelf production hardware and turn it into a reliable Conduit system by adding our coordination logic, our perception, and the model-based capabilities that let one cell generalize across many factories. Your work runs on a real line within weeks of being prototyped, and the customer is in the room when it does.

**What You’ll Do **

- Take production robots (Universal Robots, FANUC, KUKA, ABB, Yaskawa) and generalize them. Add coordination, perception, and policy logic so a single cell type can be deployed across many customers without three months of bespoke engineering each time.

- Prototype and adapt modern ML for manipulation, inspection, machine tending, and material handling: VLA policies, diffusion policies, imitation learning, vision-language models, 3D perception, world-model-flavored video understanding.

- Run the unglamorous half of the ML pipeline. Collect demonstrations on real factory hardware, label and curate data, build evaluation harnesses, ship the next checkpoint.

- Use classical robotics fundamentals (calibration, frames, motion planning, force control, safety-rated cells) to make learned policies actually survive a factory floor.

- Spend meaningful time onsite. Lighting, dust, occlusion, cycle time, operator workflows, and “the customer just moved the bin three inches” are part of the job.

- Turn one-off breakthroughs into reusable Conduit capabilities so the next deployment is faster than the last.

**Who You Are **

- 4+ years of hands-on robotics work where modern ML was central, not a side experiment. Industry or a high-output research group both count. PhDs welcome and not required.

- You have shipped at least one robotics system that someone other than you was depending on.

- You are AI-native in robotics. Modern ML is your default toolkit, and you have opinions about what is real versus what is a demo.

- You know enough classical robotics to ground your ML: coordinate frames, calibration, motion planning, force and impedance control, safety, and why factory cycle time is unforgiving.

- You write production-quality Python and ideally C++. You are fluent in Linux, ROS or ROS 2, Docker, and GPU workflows.

- You feel ill when a robot has been broken for three days.

- You want to be a part of the reindustrialization of the United States.

**Nice to Have **

- Experience with NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Isaac Lab, Cosmos, GR00T, or comparable simulation and foundation-model toolchains.

- Hands-on with OpenVLA, RT-2/RT-X, Octo, V-JEPA, Gemini Robotics, or similar.

- Experience with industrial sensing — Ouster lidar, structured-light, time-of-flight, industrial machine vision.

- Background in mechanical or electrical engineering. Not required, but seeing the whole package helps.

Roboticist (AI)

We are hiring the FDE who can stand up a real-time computer vision system on a customer's line and the next day be in the CEO's office talking about results.

**The Role **

This is a customer-first FDE role applied to computer vision and ML. You will go into a customer's plant, understand what they actually need to see — defects, ergonomics, throughput, machine state, operator behavior, material flow — and stand up the streaming vision system that captures, classifies, and acts on it in real time.

You are technical enough to own the full pipeline: data collection on real factory hardware, manual and automated labeling, model training and evaluation in PyTorch, inference deployment on edge hardware you specced and ordered. You love to be people facing and are energized by delivering stellar outcomes for your customers.

**What You’ll Do **

- Own customer CV/ML deployments end to end. Scope the problem, install cameras and edge compute, build the data pipeline, train the model, deploy inference, validate on the floor.

- Build end-to-end pipelines from training to inference. Data collection, labeling (manual and automated), training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring.

- Stream and process video at industrial volume. Multi-camera setups, real-time inference on the edge, intelligent downsampling, smart triggers, alerting.

- Apply CV to industrial problems: defect detection, classification, action / ergonomics analysis, machine state, material tracking, operator-assist.

- Spec and order the hardware to run it. GPUs, edge boxes, cameras, lenses, lighting. You are comfortable being trusted with a $40K compute order.

- Translate customer needs into clean engineering briefs for the SF team. Build relationships with plant managers and operators so the system gets used.

- Travel frequently. The factory is where the work is.

**Who You Are **

- 4+ years of applied ML / CV work, including production deployments. You have shipped at least one inference pipeline that someone other than you depended on.

- You have built end-to-end pipelines from training to inference, including the data labeling muscle — both manual workflows and automated / programmatic labeling, weak supervision, pseudo-labeling, active learning.

- Strong Python. Strong PyTorch. You are conversational with modern CV — detection, segmentation, classification, action recognition, vision transformers, multi-modal — and the relevant inference toolchain (TensorRT, ONNX, Triton, etc.).

- You are comfortable around hardware. You have selected cameras, ordered GPUs, set up edge inference boxes, and dealt with the surprises that come from running compute in a factory.

- You are great with customers. You can do a plant tour, push back on a CEO, and earn the trust of an operator who has never seen a model before.

- Industrial work experience — manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, AV, energy, or similar — is a real requirement, not a nice-to-have.
