**About The Position**

The ideal candidate will demonstrate cultural competency in serving diverse community college student populations, including those with differing abilities, AB 540 students, DACA recipients, Foreign Residents, VACA participants, and Continuing Education students. They will support RSCCD’s mission to promote self-awareness, knowledge, and communication skills, enabling students to participate creatively and confidently in an ever-changing world.

Candidates will cultivate an inclusive classroom culture that engages and supports a diverse student population. They should effectively teach students from varied ethnic, racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds, including those with disabilities or differing academic preparation levels. General Responsibilities

This long-term temporary instructor teaching for the Human Services and Technology Division will teach all assigned classes in range of modalities, including face-to-face, online, and hybrid, and may include evening or off-campus assignments unless excused according to Board Policy provisions. Will teach a variety of courses/levels within the discipline/area of study. The instructor shall assist in maintaining the course outline for each assigned course. They shall maintain accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and academic progress. Candidates should have experience with curriculum and program development. Candidates should have experience with student learning outcomes and assessment, as well as program review. Be familiar with and observe the administrative regulations (flex calendar obligations, course overviews, etc.). They shall participate in department meetings and activities and will serve on shared governance committee(s).

**Minimum Qualifications (Applicants Must Meet One Of The Following)**

Possess from an accredited institution: A Master's degree in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education or educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education, OR Bachelor’s in any of the above, AND Master’s in social work, educational supervision,

elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/home economics, family life studies or family and consumer studies, OR

Possess a valid California Community College credential authorizing service in the discipline, OR

The equivalent (applicants who do not meet the above minimum qualifications must complete the Equivalencies Section in the application form).

Equivalencies that the Department accepts as valid: The above OR a master's/doctorate in education, educational leadership, psychology or sociology with (1) at least 15 graduate units in child development/early childhood education or (2) 5 years experience in the Early Childhood Education field (1/20011) OR master's/doctorate in counseling with a concentration in marriage, family and child counseling/therapy OR

master's/doctorate in family life studies, life management, or family and consumer studies.

AND

Candidate must demonstrate clear evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and the community. Experience in teaching student from diverse ethnic socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds who have diverse identities and varying levels of proficiency.

**Desirable Qualifications**

A working knowledge of and experience with student learning outcomes and assessment.

Experience with interdisciplinary and community engagement.

Ability to prioritize tasks, establish and meet deadlines, and work cooperatively with others.

**Definition**

Orange Coast College (OCC) is seeking equity-minded individuals for a classified employee role as a Library Clerk Senior under the Library & Learning Support Division, as part of the Office of Instruction.

**Summary**

Performs recurring paraprofessional and clerical library duties in a library involving acquisitions, receiving, basic cataloging, processing, and circulation of library materials. Provides information and assistance to library customers.

**Distinguishing Career Features**

The Library Clerk Senior represents the entry level in a library support career ladder. Incumbents at this level will support a Librarian or Library Media Technician and are assigned to customer and technical service activities. The Library Clerk Senior requires compliance with the stated qualifications and the ability to support acquisition and processing of library materials into circulation. Advancement to Library Media Technician is based on need and requires a demonstrated ability to deal with a more complex level of library processes such as intermediate cataloging. Advancement to Library Media Technician also requires formal education and training as stated in the job description to support higher levels of service.

**Essential Duties And Responsibilities**

Specific duties may vary among departments, divisions and jobs. Incumbents typically perform a substantial portion or all of the following types of duties, as assigned:

-  Receives and verifies the content of orders. Processes invoices after making adjustments to denote the proper amount and type of inventory received or to be returned.

-  Assists faculty, staff, students, and other visitors with use of the library. Assists them to find materials, pointing out library resources, and introducing visitors to librarian for assistance in research.

-  Shelves new and returned materials (books, media, or periodicals) in the absence of student employees and ensures accurate data entry into the library system.

-  Circulates, stores, and inventories books, periodicals, and audiovisual materials including those that are overdue.

-  Processes a full range of library materials within established parameters.

-  Provides technical services such as interlibrary loan including those required for cooperative library system materials and maintaining the course reserve collection.

-  Maintains current procedures manuals for the position. Cross-trains other staff members.

-  Performs routine clerical and record keeping duties.

-  Provides guidance and training to student employees.

-  Monitors and reconciles library book budget and other fund accounts to ensure proper accounting procedures for all funds.

-  Creates purchase orders using Vendor and Banner software to spend funds from library general fund accounts, lottery funds (when available), Friends of the Library foundation accounts, and ancillary fund account.

-  Understands and assigns account numbers to purchase orders and fund transfers to properly assign expenses for reporting purposes.

-  Manages ordering supplies according to District rules and standards and maintains supply inventory for department.

-  Maintains current knowledge of District and college processing of purchase orders and other financial records.

-  Processes daily arriving periodicals and newspapers.

-  Performs other related duties as assigned that support the objective of the position.
