Develop, update, and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs) in accordance with NIST SP 800‑53 and NIST SP 800‑37 .
Prepare and maintain RMF artefacts, including: Security Assessment Plans (SAPs)
Security Assessment Reports (SARs) Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms)
Ensure documentation accurately reflects system architectures, security controls, and operational environments.
FISMA & Compliance Reporting
Support annual and ad‑hoc FISMA reporting activities.
Collect, validate, and format evidence to support IG, OMB, and internal security reviews.
Track findings, weaknesses, and remediation activities in coordination with system and security teams.
Control Assessment & Continuous Monitoring
Assist in documenting security control implementations and assessment results.
Support continuous monitoring activities, including updates to control status, risk posture, and system changes.
Maintain configuration baselines, hardware/software inventories, and related security documentation.
Collaboration & Advisory Support
Work directly with System Owners , Information System Security Officers (ISSOs) , and engineers to gather technical input for security documentation.
Ensure documentation aligns with federal policies, including OMB A‑130 and agency‑specific security procedures.
Participate in security reviews, audits, and ATO renewal activities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting civilian federal agencies.
Familiarity with continuous diagnostics and mitigation (CDM) concepts.
Experience using GRC or compliance tracking tools.
Relevant certifications (preferred, not required): CompTIA Security+
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
3–6+ years of experience supporting federal IT security or information assurance activities.
Demonstrated experience with: FISMA documentation and reporting
NIST RMF (SP 800‑37, 800‑53) SSP, POA&M, and SAR development
Strong technical writing and documentation skills
