Careerscape is hiring a Project Engineer on behalf of our client, a well-established commercial general contractor based in New York City. This on-site project engineer role is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented construction professional who can support project managers in delivering commercial builds on time and on budget. Compensation: $75,000 – $105,000/year · plus bonus opportunity Responsibilities
Assist project managers with day-to-day coordination of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
Review and process submittals, RFIs, change orders, and construction documents to keep projects on schedule
Track project budgets, costs, and forecasts using Procore, Bluebeam, and construction management software
Coordinate with subcontractors, architects, engineers, and owners to resolve field issues and maintain project timelines
Prepare and maintain project schedules, meeting minutes, daily logs, and progress reports
Support the procurement process including bid solicitation, subcontractor prequalification, and buyout
Monitor job site activities to ensure work is performed in accordance with plans, specifications, and safety standards
Assist with quality control inspections and punch list management through project completion
Maintain organized project documentation including contracts, drawings, permits, and closeout packages
Participate in OAC meetings and internal project reviews, providing status updates to leadership
Requirements
1–4 years of experience in commercial construction as a project engineer, assistant project manager, or field engineer
Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or related field
Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office Suite
Familiarity with reading and interpreting construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications
Understanding of commercial building methods, materials, and building codes
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
OSHA 30 certification preferred
Experience with ground-up commercial, tenant improvement, or interior fit-out projects is a plus
Ability to work on-site full-time in the New York City metro area
