About the role
Candy Sonic LLC is building a next-generation music management and distribution system that unifies workflows across an ERP, site builder, and financial module into one cohesive platform.
We’re currently developing a prototype and are seeking a strategic, hands-on CTO to transform it into a production-ready system.
Role Summary
We’re looking for a passionate technologist and music-industry enthusiast who loves both building great software and improving how music businesses operate.
The Strategic CTO will lead the technical transformation of our prototype into a working system and oversee freelance contractors where specialized expertise is needed (e.g., security, infrastructure, audits). This is a compensation role based on a percentage of systems profits.
Responsibilities- Technology & Architecture - Own the technical vision and architecture for a scalable, maintainable platform - Define the delivery plan to take the prototype to production - Establish engineering best practices (testing, CI/CD, documentation, code reviews)- Prototype to Production - Guide development in Laravel/PHP and modern backend web practices - Ensure reliable handling of authentication/authorization, data integrity, and workflows across ERP/site builder/financial modules - Set milestones and drive execution from prototype → stable product- Security Leadership - Lead security-by-design planning and threat modeling - Coordinate with contractors (e.g., penetration testing, security reviews) - Ensure secure handling of user data and financial/business data- Contractor Management - Recruit/manage and direct freelance engineers and specialists - Provide technical guidance, review deliverables, and ensure system cohesion- Continuous Improvement & Innovation - Bring new ideas to improve product value, performance, automation, and integrations - Contribute to long-term roadmap planning with leadershipQualifications- Proven experience leading technical strategy (CTO / Tech Lead / Senior Architect)- Strong production experience with Laravel/PHP (and related modern web systems)- Solid understanding of security fundamentals (auth, authorization, OWASP-style threat awareness, secure SDLC)- Experience managing contractors or a small development team- Excellent communication and ability to translate tech into business value- Genuine passion for music and the music industry (essential)CompensationThis is a profit-share role (percentage of systems profits).
