Marketing and Communications Manager About The Job This role is based in Birmingham, AL and operates within the Marketing function, supporting the Omnichannel Marketing team. The Marketing and Communications Manager plays a key role in shaping and amplifying Books-A-Million’s brand presence across digital, in-store, and media channels. This position is highly visible and collaborative, contributing directly to brand storytelling, customer engagement, and retail growth initiatives. Role Summary The Marketing and Communications Manager drives brand voice and public presence by leading social media, public relations, and marketing campaigns. This role partners with internal teams, agencies, and community stakeholders in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment to build cultural relevance and engagement. Role Responsibilities Social Media & Content:
Own integrated social media strategy
Manage agency relationships and content workflows
Align with creative standards
Monitor trends and platforms
Store Grand Openings & Events Marketing:
Lead campaigns for store openings
Partner on logistics and outreach
Build scalable playbooks
Public Relations & Media:
Manage PR strategy and agency
Oversee press releases and pitches
Build media relationships
Brand & Campaign Marketing:
Support integrated campaigns
Write and edit copy
Track performance metrics
Role Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
4–6 years marketing experience
Strong communication and project management skills
Preferred:
Retail or multi-location experience
Analytics familiarity
Passion for books and pop culture
