BITCO Corporation, a leading provider of specialized insurance solutions is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Controller of Finance for our corporate office located in Davenport IA. With a strong national presence including 11 branch offices in 10 states, BITCO delivers tailored insurance services to specialized industries including construction, forest products and oil & gas. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with occasional necessary business travel to BITCO office locations. Position Summary We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented finance leader to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the company. This role is responsible for managing the accounting and finance team, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations, and delivering timely financial insights to support informed, strategic decision-making across the organization. Primary Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with the CFO and cross-functional leaders on strategic finance and accounting initiatives.
Establishes, implements, and communicates the strategic direction of the accounting and facilities teams
Collaborates with others in leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on accounting matters.
General ledger and accounting oversight – oversee the management of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and general ledger functions.
Oversees financial reporting processes to ensure accurate and timely closing of financial books.
Establishes, communicates, and implements policies, practices, standards in each area of oversight.
Implement and maintain security protocols to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of working files.
Maintains current documentation of accounting and facilities policies and processes.
Internal controls and compliance – responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of internal controls to safeguard company information and assets. Ensures compliance and oversees the coordination of audit processes, both internal and external.
Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline Accounting and Facilities processes and resources.
Ensures that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, and facilities are in line with the organization’s business plan and vision.
Participate in varying levels of long-term planning at the functional or organizational level
Provide, review, and/or approve functional reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements to support project planning and execution.
Maintains knowledge of industry, technologies, and best practices for accounting and facilities.
Perform standard supervisory responsibilities, including but not limited to the following:
Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains employees in the department
Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
As a management representative, consistently acts in the best interest of BITCO and provides leadership and communication to actively promote BITCO's mission, values, and culture.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
8-10+ years of experience in accounting and financial management
Reinsurance accounting experience a plus.
Ability to analyze financial data and identify trends and opportunities
Demonstrated attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy in financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance with accounting standards
Excellent verbal and written communication
Ability to identify and resolve accounting and financial issues
Excellent organizational skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Adaptability, open-mindedness, and a drive to deliver high-quality outcomes in dynamic environments.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Office environment; this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, as directed by manager
Frequently sit at a desk or other work station for extended periods of time
Occasionally lift and carry equipment and/or materials weighing up to 15 pounds
Routinely bend, kneel, reach, see, be mobile and walk around
Must be able to attend and perform job duties effectively both in-person and virtually, as required by manager
Travel by air or car, as required by manager; Must have a valid driver's license
