Mechanical Engineering Expert (AI Training) About The Role We're looking for mechanical engineering experts to help train and improve cutting-edge AI systems. Your technical knowledge will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex engineering problems — from fluid dynamics to structural mechanics — making a real impact on the future of intelligent systems. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. You set your schedule and work on your own terms.
Organization: Alignerr
Type: Hourly Contract
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
Design Advanced Engineering Problems — Craft challenging, domain-rich problems across areas like FEA (Finite Element Analysis), heat transfer, kinematics, thermodynamics, and material science to stress-test AI reasoning.
Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning and evaluation.
Audit AI-Generated Technical Content — Review AI outputs including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for accuracy, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (e.g., ASME, ISO).
Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors such as incorrect force distributions or energy conservation violations, and provide structured feedback that improves how the model thinks through engineering problems.
Who You Are
Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
Strong foundational knowledge in one or more core domains: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
Able to communicate complex physical phenomena and technical reasoning clearly in written form
High attention to detail — precise when checking mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints
No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
Experience with data annotation, data quality, or technical evaluation workflows
Proficiency in engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS
Familiarity with how large language models (LLMs) generate and process technical content
