Chemistry Researcher (Masters/PhDs) - AI Training About The Role What if your deep knowledge of chemistry could directly shape how AI reasons through some of the hardest scientific problems in the world? We're looking for Chemistry Experts — Masters and PhD holders — to design, solve, and evaluate advanced chemistry problems that teach cutting-edge AI models how to think like a scientist. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No AI background needed — just rigorous scientific expertise and a sharp eye for quality.
Organization: Alignerr
Type: Hourly Contract
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
Design and solve complex, real-world chemistry problems spanning organic, inorganic, physical, and computational chemistry
Critically evaluate AI-generated scientific reasoning and identify errors in logic, methodology, or accuracy
Develop rich, challenging problem statements that push AI models to reason at a graduate level
Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to improve model performance
Ensure scientific rigor, clarity, and depth across all deliverables
Work independently and on your own schedule — fully asynchronous
Who You Are
Hold a Master's or PhD in Chemistry or a closely related field
Deep expertise in at least one core area — organic, inorganic, physical, or computational chemistry
Comfortable applying computational tools or coding (e.g., Python, Gaussian, VASP) to chemistry problems
Exceptionally precise in written communication — you explain complex ideas clearly and accurately
Naturally detail-oriented with a high bar for scientific quality
Fluent in English
Nice to Have
Experience in data annotation, scientific evaluation, or quality review workflows
Familiarity with AI tools or machine learning concepts
Background spanning multiple chemistry subfields
Prior experience writing or reviewing scientific content for technical audiences
