**Job Description**

- This is a Full Time position at 36 hours per week for the Immediate Care Center located at the Sycamore clinic. This would be 3, 12hr shifts from 6:45am-7:15pm with weekend and holiday coverage requirement. Floating to other clinics may be required. Must be a CMA or EMT.**

The Immediate Care Technician supports physicians (MD) and advance practice providers (APP) by facilitating patient flow, assisting with various patient care activities, and performing related administrative functions. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient patient flow; maintaining neat, clean and safe patient care areas; promoting patient satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional, friendly manner; safeguarding patient confidentiality.

**Responsibilities:**

**Description**

Assures efficient patient flow through the site:

- Escorts patient to exam room, identifies patient with 2 identifiers and prepares patient for examination.

- Obtains accurate vital signs, per organization standards.

- Documents reason for visit and updates/confirms, allergies, smoking history and pharmacy information.

- Promptly informs the MD/APP of any significant change in vital signs or acute symptoms.

- Anticipates/sets up equipment or supplies needed for visit.

- Cleans and prepares exam room for next patient.

- Responds to needs to expedite visits and maintain flow of patients and prioritize tasks accordingly.

- Assists with referrals, transfers and discharge processes.

Assists MD/APP with medical and surgical procedures in accordance with established protocols such as:

- Electrocardiogram (ECG), venipuncture, immunizations, setting up procedure trays, specimen. collection and/or Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) waived testing, wound care, splinting, as directed by MD/APP.

- Call-in or electronically send prescriptions as directed by the MD/APP.

Provides high quality care by:

- Prepares and stocks all exam rooms in treatment area by following established protocols for disinfecting and sterilizing equipment and instruments.

- Participates in environmental safety rounds.

- Maintains vaccine/medication inventory.

- Ensures medication cabinets are locked appropriately.

- Monitors and maintains equipment and instruments according to clinic guidelines.

- Assists in ordering supplies and correctly disposes of all expired items.

- Adheres to office opening and closing procedures.

Functions as an integral part of the patient care team and promotes patient satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional, friendly manner:

- Interacts in a professional, cooperative manner with other practice staff.

- Accepts and performs delegated responsibilities in a positive manner.

- Offers assistance to others.

- Attends and participates in staff meetings.

**Qualifications**

**Required:**

- High school diploma or GED equivalent.

- Candidate must have written proof of meeting candidate eligibility requirements for writing one of the five eligible certification exams (AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA, NRCMA)

- Accepted documentation:

- New MA Graduates within 6 months from date of graduation from an MA Program must submit: a letter from the school or a letter from the certifying body

- Non-Certified MAs or new graduates past 6 months from date of graduation from an MA program must submit: a letter from the certifying body

- Within first six months of employment, will complete one of the following certifications after up to two test attempts:

- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)

- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologists (AMT) or

**Job Description**

Performs clerical, general, and/or patient care support functions within a Rehab department, under the direction of the Ortho and Rehab Services Department Leader. Assists licensed clinicians with the implementation of treatment plans under their direction and supervision. Responsible for general cleaning and organization of the environment of care. These tasks support services provided by the Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Psychologist, Speech Pathologist, Therapy Recreation, and/or Auditory Therapist.

**Responsibilities:**

- Assists with patient care under the direction of licensed therapists. Provides assistance during community re-entry activities under a plan of care established by the Rehab Team.

- Transports/escorts patients between nursing pod and Rehab Department.

- Performs daily, weekly, monthly cleanup of department, restocks linen, wipes down treatment tables between patients or daily if sheet is used and removes clutter from the storage room weekly. Maintains cleaning schedule and cleans hydrocollators, cold pack units and other equipment as needed.

- Monitors equipment temperatures per policy.

- Performs general clerical duties including mail processing, typing, faxing, photocopying, filing and processing medical records for the department.

- Answers phones, schedules outpatients and/or coordinates and maintains the Rehabilitation Unit patient therapy schedule. Backs up telephone reception as needed.

- Tracks, enters, and verifies daily record of charges in computer.

- Responsible for ordering supplies and maintaining inventories as directed by Department Leader

- Maintains competency as appropriate and pursues ongoing learning through attendance at departmental and system in-services, workshops and conferences/seminars. Actively participates in organizational learning opportunities as appropriate.

- Provides care needed as described in the unit’s/department’s policies and procedures, as well as in the clinical competency checklist for the position and patient age groups served.

- Maintains appropriate documentation as appropriate.

- Is knowledgeable about the patient’s cultural, psychosocial, ethnic and religious needs and adjusts interventions when appropriate based on this knowledge.

- Maintains a professional and courteous manner and provides care/ communication in a manner consistent with customer satisfaction and service excellence strategies.

- Attends team/unit meetings and conferences as appropriate to facilitate coordinated care and communication.

- Participates on various interdisciplinary system teams as appropriate
