Manage and lead the Industrial Design team, design process and best practices while working cross-functionally within our New Product Development (NPD) community.

- Stage 4: A 45-minute remote interview with a member of Relay’s executive team

We pay for impact and aren’t tied to yearly reviews. As your contributions to Relay’s mission scale, so do your rewards. Most new Relayers will join at the impactful level, which for this role is $156,750 USD per year, or $190,000 per year, respectively. **As a Senior Product Designer (individual contributor), you are responsible for:**

**Product Design And Execution**

- Bring products to life through collaboration across the enterprise, designing solutions that delight and satisfy our clients and meet business needs

- Influence product design efforts from early discovery to final delivery

- Design interactions across desktop, mobile web and native mobile experiences, using product context

- Align visual design approach for products, including how aspects like layout, color, spacing and typography impact how the user will interact with the system and how the system should respond

- Work within and potentially contribute to a design system with full understanding of the overarching structure and implementation methods for patterns and components

- Understand that the tiniest detail can make all the difference in designing a great product, with focused attention on meeting product requirements, providing consistent and error-free experiences aligned to brand identity, and ensuring every aspect of the design is accessible and inclusive

- Create solutions together with a cross-functional Agile team, considering how digital, physical, and service channels work together

- Use problem definition techniques and data to drive project requirements

**Required Qualifications**

- 6 + years of product design experience, focused on digital products or equivalent

- 1+ year of product design experience for touch-based mobile interface

- A background with financial applications; experience with brokerage platforms

- Expertise designing for data intensive applications

- Experience with all aspects of a user-centered design process, including user research, developing user flows, creating wireframes, and creating content specifications

- Experience working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team within an iterative process and an Agile development methodology

- Experience with accessible design and accessibility testing for solutions

- Proficient in design tools such as Figma

- Experience running design sessions with cross-functional teams

**About The Role**

This role is responsible for leading the sourcing strategy and supplier management for product packaging, softgoods, and accessories used across our hardware products. The position partners closely with industrial design, mechanical engineering, operations, and program management teams to ensure these components align with product design intent, user experience, cost targets, and manufacturing requirements. This individual will drive supplier selection, commercial negotiations, and long-term sourcing strategies to support new product introduction (NPI) and sustaining production, ensuring high-quality components and reliable supply.

**Responsibilities**

- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for product packaging, softgoods, and accessories supporting both NPI builds and production ramp.

- Identify, qualify, and manage global suppliers with the technical capability and manufacturing capacity to support packaging, softgoods, and accessories.

- Partner with Industrial and Product Design Engineering teams to ensure materials, finishes, and construction methods align with product design intent, user experience, and manufacturability.

- Lead commercial negotiations and contract development, including pricing agreements, tooling investments, and long-term supply agreements.

- Support new product introduction (NPI) by ensuring supplier readiness, component availability, and risk mitigation across EVT, DVT, and PVT through mass production.

- Drive cost optimization initiatives through value engineering, material selection improvements, and supplier benchmarking.

**Required Qualifications**

- 8+ years of experience in supply chain, sourcing, or commodity management within eyewear, hardware, or other consumer products.

- Experience managing suppliers for packaging, softgoods, and accessories used in eyewear or consumer products.

- Strong understanding of consumer product packaging, including retail packaging and protective packaging solutions.

- Experience sourcing softgoods materials and components, such as fabrics, leathers, foams, or flexible materials used in consumer products.

- Experience partnering with Industrial Design and Mechanical Engineering teams during product development.

- Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) and managing supplier readiness across EVT, DVT, PVT builds through production.
