Johns Hopkins University (JHU) is seeking an experienced, results-driven **Legal Operations Advisor ** to lead the design, buildout, and continuous improvement of the operational infrastructure supporting the Sr. Vice President and Office of the General Counsel (OGC). This newly created role will work in direct partnership with OGC leadership, including the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, Practice Group Leaders, and Chief of Staff, to ensure the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the office.

This position will oversee a range of legal operations functions, including maintaining and developing workflows, budget management frameworks, technology strategies, performance metrics, and change management. The role also collaborates regularly with Practice Group Leaders, and university administrative leaders to ensure alignment with the General Counsel's vision and institutional priorities.

**Specific Duties & Responsibilities**

~~Operational Leadership, Process/System Improvement and Project Management~~

- Anticipate, identify and troubleshoot issues of operational concern or significance within the Office of General Counsel.

- Manage complex, cross-functional projects from inception to completion across OGC practice groups, applying rigorous project management methodologies to deliver initiatives on time and within budget.

- Partner with the Chief of Staff to create, implement and maintain a standardized legal intake system.

- Manage the continuous improvement and maturation of operational processes and workflows to enhance efficiency, consistency, and effectiveness across the department, including standardizing tools, templates, and playbooks to promote best practices across practice groups.

- Assess and refine current practices and systems—such as legal holds, intake, and matter management and triage—to improve usability, scalability, and alignment with institutional needs.

~~Legal Technology Strategy~~

- Work in partnership with the Chief of Staff and Practice Group leaders to develop and execute OGC's legal technology roadmap. This includes evaluating and implementing matter management systems, e-billing platforms, contract lifecycle management solutions, e-discovery tools, and document automation platforms. Serve as primary liaison with university IT, procurement, and external vendors to ensure effective deployment, integration, and adoption.

~~Budget, Financial Management, and Outside Counsel~~

- Assist with OGC's annual budget planning process in coordination with university finance, analyzing legal spending patterns and identifying cost savings.

- Develop and enforce guidelines governing outside counsel retention, billing compliance, and spend management, leveraging data and analytics to evaluate firm performance and inform retention decisions.

~~Data Analytics and Performance Metrics~~

- Partner with internal subject matter experts to develop dashboards and reports on matters, workload, outside counsel spend, cycle times, and other indicators of departmental performance to support data-driven decision-making and strategic planning.

~~Change Management and Communication~~

- Work in alignment with the Chief of Staff to function as a change agent within OGC and drive the adoption of new processes and technologies across attorneys, paralegals, and staff. Manage design, rollout, and training for all new systems and processes.

~~Team Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration~~

- Collaborate with cross-functional partners — including the offices of the President and Provost, Finance, HR, IT, Compliance, and Risk Management — to align OGC operations with broader institutional goals.

- Build and maintain successful working relationships that support university-wide collaboration, and a strong focus on customer service and positive stakeholder engagement.

**Minimum Qualifications**

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

- Minimum five (5) years of increasing responsible experience in strategic management, legal operations, legal administration, senior paralegal experience, or law practice management, gained in-house, in the government, or at a law firm.

**Overview**

The Department of Labor is seeking a General Counsel (GC) I to provide legal advice and support to the Commissioner and other Department officials. This is the chief legal position of the Department, reporting directly to the Commissioner. The GC will manage a complex and varied workload providing legal advice on significant public policy matters and in areas of substantial financial impact, as well as may appear before legislative committees on bills of particular importance to the Department as needed.

The duties of the GC include oversight of the Department's legal team, involving Workers' Compensation Insurance, Unemployment Insurance, VOSHA, and Wage and Hour, as well as the associated appeal efforts in those programs. The GC is a member of the Department's Senior Leadership Team and provides legal guidance with regards to extensive federal and state regulations as it relates to the various programs within the Department. Additional duties include, legal review of Department's contracts and grant agreements, coordination of the Department's administrative rulemaking efforts, and participation in the development and execution of litigation strategies in state, federal and regulatory forums relating to the work of the Department. Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Insurance Claim Coordinator to join our Risk Management team. In this role, you will provide primary support for claims processing, payment reconciliation, reporting, and other essential administrative functions. This position requires independent judgment, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams to ensure accurate and timely management of insurance claims and risk processes.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the operational success of our organization while supporting clients in navigating the complexities of insurance claims. **Responsibilities **

- Provides a variety of administrative support tasks to include the maintenance of electronic claim records, opening claims, and reporting to TPA or carriers.

- Interacts with internal and external customers to answer questions and supply information regarding invoice processing, and overall workers compensation claims questions.

- Prepare ad hoc, monthly, and quarterly reports as required or requested by management.

- Risk Management Notebook – Update RM Notebook after renewal and throughout the year when changes are needed through the IT Service Catalog.

- Workers Compensation – Review and process WC claims, including entering data into Riskonnect, submitting claims to the insurance carrier or handling of claims in-house within 48 hours of receiving claims.

- Process WC invoices in a timely manner.

- Work closely with Payroll and Human Resources making these departments aware of indemnity payments being made for employees missing work due to their WC injuries.

- Performs other job-related duties as assigned

**Competencies **

- **Knowledge of: ** Insurance claims processing procedures and terminology; claims management software; accounting principles and financial reporting;

- **Skill in: ** Reviewing incidents for accuracy, communicating with insurance adjusters, processing payments, and generating reports; interacting with internal and external customers; managing tasks and problem-solving; Workers Compensation claims payment reconciliation; accuracy and attention to detail; Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint teams and Copilot; administrative assistance with organization of meetings.

- **Ability to: **Maintain electronic claim records, including opening, reporting and monitoring claims with TPAs, and/or carriers; Respond to inquiries and provide information regarding invoices, processing, and overall claims processing to internal and external customers; generate ad hoc, monthly, and quarterly reports as required by management; work independently and as part of a team; prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines; working with confidential information while maintaining confidentiality; process large amounts of invoices and maintain records in shared one drive.

**Qualifications **

- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in ­­­­­ insurance claims processing or a related field.

- Experience leading reconciliation processes and working with financial data highly preferred.

- Must pass a criminal history background check.

As we continue to scale globally, we’re looking for a **Senior Legal Counsel **to own and scale our commercial contracting engine—enabling revenue while protecting the company—and to lead key legal workstreams including data protection contracting and IP strategy.

This is a high-impact role where you’ll partner most closely with Sales, GTM, Deal Desk, Finance, and RevOps to drive efficient deal cycles and establish repeatable contracting standards. You’ll also support Product and Leadership on data protection/privacy contracting and the protection of HYCU’s intellectual property.

**What You’ll Do: **

**Own and scale commercial contracting (Sales/GTM) **

- Draft, review, and negotiate customer and partner agreements, and own the end-to-end contracting workflow from intake through signature (including playbooks, fallback positions, approval routing, and continuous improvement)

- Partner with Sales, Deal Desk, Finance, and RevOps to keep deals moving efficiently while maintaining clear risk posture on key terms (liability, indemnities, warranties, data use, and IP)

- MSAs / SaaS subscription agreements, order forms, and renewals

- Data Processing Agreements (DPAs), including SCCs and other cross-border transfer terms where applicable

- Security exhibits and customer procurement addenda (audit rights, incident notification, security controls, and confidentiality)

- Service level agreements (SLAs) and support terms

- Partner, reseller, referral, and alliance agreements

- Vendor, technology, and data-related contracts (including SOWs) and NDAs

**Be a strategic legal partner to the business **

- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and cross-functional teams on legal, compliance, and risk matters related to commercial contracting and go-to-market execution

- Partner closely with Sales and GTM teams to support revenue growth while protecting the company’s interests

**Guide the company through legal and regulatory complexity **

- Support practical, scalable compliance and risk processes that directly impact customer and vendor contracting for a global B2B SaaS business

- Advise on data protection, privacy, and security contracting and compliance (e.g., DPAs, SCCs, security terms, audit rights, breach/incident notification, and data use), partnering closely with Security/Compliance and Product teams; support global frameworks such as GDPR as the company scales

- Support the development of scalable policies and processes as the company grows

**Protect and strengthen our intellectual property (IP) **

- Own HYCU’s IP strategy and coordinate with outside counsel, including invention assignment, contractor/employee IP provisions, confidentiality and trade secret protection, and trademark/patent/copyright matters

- Support product and go-to-market initiatives by spotting and mitigating IP risk (including open-source software review/compliance, licensing questions, and third-party IP considerations) and assisting with IP diligence for strategic partnerships

**What We’re Looking For: **

- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing

- 7+ years of legal experience, with significant hands-on experience drafting and negotiating B2B SaaS commercial agreements (ideally with a mix of law firm and in-house experience)

- Demonstrated experience supporting commercial sales teams and enterprise customer contracts

- Strong knowledge of SaaS business models, subscription licensing, and cloud computing is a must

- Deep expertise in commercial contracts, technology transactions, and risk management

- Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills

- Ability to operate independently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment

- Strong business judgment and the ability to translate legal complexity into practical guidance

- High level of integrity, professionalism and ethical conduct

- Intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm for learning new technologies

**Pay Transparency **

The anticipated cash compensation range for this position is $185,000 - $235,000 annually. The cash compensation package includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HYCU's bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, all roles are eligible to participate in HYCU’s equity plan and benefits program. Individual compensation packages are determined by a combination of factors unique to each candidate, including location, level, relevant experience, and skills. As the Senior Legal Counsel- Employment, you will manage all employment-related matters across the Americas Region, in close collaboration with the VP, Legal. **Responsibilities**

- Manage sensitive and wide-ranging employment law matters, including counseling on recruiting and hiring, employee relations, performance management, wage and hour compliance, compensation and benefits, commission plans, workplace health & safety, digital and social media, privacy, leaves and accommodations, terminations, workforce restructuring, and other employment related matters

- Counsel and support HR with developing, implementing, and managing employment-related policies, guidelines, processes, and trainings

- Monitor and advise on changes to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations

- Interface with and manage outside counsel relationships

- Develop and conduct employment law trainings (live and online)

- Ensure regular use and contribution to Group Legal’s knowledge management and legal tech solutions

**Qualifications**

- J.D. required from a leading recognized law school; strong academic credentials

- Must be a member of at least one state bar in good standing (NY strongly preferred)

- Minimum of 5-7 years of employment law experience, preferably gained through a combination of law firm and in-house roles of increasing visibility and responsibility

- Deep experience advising clients on employment laws across the U.S. (including California and New York)

- Preference for international experience in the Americas or a strong willingness to learn international employment law (including Canada, Mexico, and Brazil)

- Experience in retail or consumer products industries preferred

- Ability to think like a businessperson, to integrate legal and business issues and to partner with business leaders

- Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and organize workload to meet organizational timelines in a fast paced, very high-growth environment
