Penn State IT is seeking a highly motivated **Wireless Automation Engineer ** to join the ENCS Wireless team. This position will play a critical role in designing, automating, and operating Penn State’s next-generation wireless platform built on Juniper Mist.

Penn State is currently undergoing a multi-year transformation from Aruba wireless infrastructure to a Juniper Mist cloud-managed wireless platform across campuses and facilities statewide. This position will help accelerate and operationalize that transition through automation, telemetry, observability, and modern network engineering practices.

The successful candidate will focus on developing scalable automation, telemetry-driven operations, and modern network engineering practices to improve the reliability, consistency, and operational maturity of one of higher education’s largest enterprise wireless environments.

This role combines enterprise wireless engineering with software development, automation, analytics, and observability. The engineer will help drive Penn State’s transition toward proactive, data-driven wireless operations through automation, API integrations, configuration-as-code, and intelligent monitoring workflows.

This position works in close partnership with the Wireless Technical Lead and Wireless Manager. While the Technical Lead provides architectural and technical leadership for the wireless platform, this role focuses on automation engineering, operational tooling, telemetry integration, and platform reliability.

While the primary focus of this position is wireless automation engineering and operational modernization, the successful candidate is also expected to maintain a strong understanding of enterprise wireless networking fundamentals and participate as a member of the wireless engineering team, including participation in the team’s on-call rotation.

**LOCATION**

The Research Translation Platform invites applications for a Research Data Analyst interested in a career at the research-policy nexus supporting the evaluation and analytic needs of strategies for translating scientific evidence to policymakers. This exciting opportunity would support the analysis and evaluation of research translation models, such as the Research-to-Policy Collaboration model. The Analyst would be responsible for supporting methods development and data analysis for a variety of projects, and may have opportunities to contribute to the implementation of an effective, replicable and non-partisan model for brokering researchers and policymakers. While the Analyst should have advanced quantitative skills, prior policy experience is not required. Training and mentorship in applying their skills to the analysis of boundary-spanning initiatives will be provided. This mentored position provides an opportunity to learn translational skills while working with policymaking audiences, as well as opportunities to contribute to scholarly work regarding best practices for research translation and dissemination. Our team is hybrid academic and policy practice; thus, we use data for action. Preference will be given to those within commuting distance to the Washington, D.C. area, though it is not required.

**Job Responsibilities**

- Design the plan for and analyze observational and survey data regarding policymakers’ or researchers’ engagement in boundary-spanning initiatives, including longitudinal and multi-level analyses

- Extract, transform, clean, and maintain data from a variety of sources

- Development and proactive upkeep of data sources (e.g., surveys in Redcap, observational data via a CRM)

- Contribute to the development of analytic plans for grants and publications

- Support analytic needs for grant writing and reporting (e.g., power analyses; interim impact analyses)

The Deskside Support team supports roughly 5,000+ individuals and 3,000+ unique endpoint devices.

**About The Role**

This position is part of the Endpoint Management group and is involved primarily with computer hardware from quote through purchasing, receiving, inventorying, imaging, deploying and lifecycling. In addition, this position plays a role in our daily efforts to remediate vulnerabilities on endpoint computing devices. The role also provides direct IT support services with customers and users regarding all technology needs/issues, including but not limited to hardware and software break/fix, basic network and server troubleshooting all the way up to new and innovative solution planning and implementation. This position participates in supporting the varied and complex software needs for the business verticals within the units supported as well as participates in a daily drive to evaluate the immediate and long-term needs of our customers and users so that they can most effectively and efficiently serve their customers.

**QALIFICATIONS**
