Job Summary

The Field Service Technician is responsible for on-site installation, preventative maintenance, and corrective maintenance of Astrophysics products at various customer locations. In this role, the technician will troubleshoot, diagnose and repair products, perform maintenance, and complete all service documentation and reports. The Field Service Technician must maintain a professional appearance and provide exceptional customer service. The Field Service Technician position requires the ability to travel, reliable vehicle transport, and a valid driver’s license.

Essential Functions:

- Perform on-site installation, and preventative and corrective maintenance.

- Complete all necessary service documentation, including reports, radiation surveys, parts requisitions, and expense reports.

- Test faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions and return the defective parts regularly, as parts are accumulated and shipping is cost-effective.

- Input and maintain all data in the service databases (including Astrophysics proprietary software and apps), ensuring timely and accurate completion.

- Review machine and customer information prior to arriving on-site, and prepare the necessary equipment, parts, and documentation in advance.

- Update the customer and Astrophysics service headquarters on progress and status of service call.

- Deliver the customer package, including warranty, customer survey, and copies of all relevant reports.

- Ensure an outstanding customer service experience.

- Promote the sale of extended warranty service contracts and repeat x-ray purchases.

- Provide operator and/or technical training.

- Provide technical phone support and documentation as needed.

- Provide support for custom product installations, upgrades, and special projects as required.

Education and Experience:

- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, or related field.

- 2-7 years technical support or field service experience.

- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.

- Excellent customer service skills.

Zayo is seeking a **Field Technician II ** in the greater NYC/New Jersey area who will primarily be responsible for performing duties associated with hands on functions within the telecommunications industry.

Our **Field Technician II ** is moderately proficient in the troubleshooting and maintenance of various types of equipment noted. Our ideal **Field Technician II ** has a strong technical, mechanical and electrical background and is familiar and proficient around all major manufacturers of transport equipment, low/high voltage electrical systems, DC power plant as well as knowledgeable in critical infrastructure, ISP/OSP and all associated test systems to include optical, electrical and power testing equipment associated with the telecommunications industry.

Our **Field Technician II ** will proficiently install, test or turn up a variety of telecommunications equipment including SONET, TDM, DWDM, IP or Ethernet based equipment with limited supervision from the team lead or manager. They'll also troubleshoot and handle maintenance of various types of equipment (ie. Ciena, Nokia, Infinera, Juniper, Cisco)

The assigned shift may vary based on needs of the business and typically includes an "On-Call" shift rotation.

- Please note that this role will be working in the field. Our ideal candidate will reside within 1 hour of the New York, New Jersey metro areas.

**Responsibilities **:

- Perform a variety of functions based on the need of their assigned geographic area. Operate under some supervision.

- Participate in meetings or requiring functions related to projects and processes.

- Perform installation and installation commissioning, troubleshooting, and handling of optical transmission systems with guidance from leadership.

- Perform OTDR, Ethernet, BER, and SONET acceptance testing.

- Complete installation, decommissioning, and troubleshooting of network and customer services.

- Provide preliminary site surveys for building entrance construction requirements and equipment space availability.

- Responsible for preventable and demand maintenance of the network, critical infrastructure (commonly referred to as facilities), and materials management.

- Own understanding, learning, and executing to Zayo’s standards for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and safekeeping of the network.

- Install, label, scope & clean, and test of fiber optic patch cords.

- Sometimes assigned to outside plant network in a given market, including metro and long haul fibers.

- Proactively seek and identify potential network problems and report these issues before becoming service affecting events. This includes action to resolve issues identified during routine preventative maintenance conducted during defined timelines.

- Meet documented objectives and goals as business needs define.

- Write routine reports, fill out documentation such as site surveys, fiber panels audits, close out packages, power audit reports as well as effectively communicate with customers, management, peers, and contractors, as well as other members of the organization.

- Resolve problems in complex situations.

- Use deductive reasoning skills to improve the customer experience and network performance.

- Inspect outdoor cabinets, buried cable, construction sites, and other facilities in various environments, weather conditions, temperatures, various terrains with potential exposure to various types of vegetation and/or wild life.

- Assist other employees with tasks as needed.

- Act as a resource for less experienced Field Technicians.

- Conduct a routine inspection of company issued vehicle to ensure it is in a safe operating condition.

- Follow all personal safety policies and procedures.

- Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation supporting after-hours activity as required

**Qualifications **:

**About The Role**

Fluidstack is building one of the world's largest AI compute platforms, which means our supply chain is a critical competitive lever — not a back-office function. As a Director of Supply Chain, you will own the full end-to-end supply chain operation across two major categories: data center MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) and IT infrastructure (compute, storage, and networking), as well as our global logistics program.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership role. You will directly manage commodity and sourcing managers, procurement coordinators, and on-site logistics coordinators, and you will be in the work: negotiating deals, managing supplier escalations, driving logistics performance, and keeping execution tight across a fast-moving portfolio.

**You Will**

- Own end-to-end supply chain execution across MEP and IT infrastructure categories, driving cost, quality, lead time, and availability performance against targets

- Lead, develop, and scale a team of commodity managers, sourcing managers, procurement coordinators, and logistics coordinators across multiple sites and time zones

- Drive sourcing and contracting strategy for hardware OEMs, component suppliers, and MEP vendors (generators, UPS, switchgear, cooling, electrical)

- Negotiate multi-year supply agreements, framework contracts, and spot purchase terms with tier-1 and tier-2 suppliers; own executive-level supplier relationships at the operational level

- Identify and mitigate supply risk, including single-source dependencies, geopolitical exposure, long-lead items, and allocation constraints for critical components

**Basic Qualifications**

- 10+ years of progressive supply chain experience, with at least 5 years managing teams in technology hardware, data center, or hyperscale infrastructure environments

- Demonstrated track record owning both procurement/sourcing and logistics functions simultaneously at material scale

- Direct experience sourcing and contracting for IT infrastructure hardware (servers, GPUs, networking) and/or data center MEP equipment

- Experience managing global logistics programs including freight, customs/trade compliance, and on-site or embedded logistics coordination

- Strong people manager with experience building and developing high-performing supply chain teams across multiple functions

- Proficiency in supply chain systems and tools (ERP, procurement platforms, WMS, inventory management) and strong quantitative/analytical skills

The base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $300,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and location. NYPL is seeking a Library Maintainer to maintain an environment that is clean, safe and comfortable for our Library users and employees.

**Key Responsibilities**

Under the general supervision of the Building Manager, the Library Maintainer:

- Performs repairs, installations and preventive maintenance of building plant operations consisting of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and general carpentry between multiple sites and properties of NYPL

- Assesses jobs and determines staffing and materials needs (makes recommendations as appropriate)

- Picks up supplies and materials as appropriate

- Assists in the training of Library Maintainers working on building infrastructure systems

- Tracks time spent on jobs using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

- Performs related duties as required

**Skills Knowledge & Expertise**

**Required Education and Certifications **

- High School Diploma or GED and advanced courses in plumbing, mechanical, electrical, or refrigeration skills

- Ability to qualify to obtain valid certificates of fitness for the following: Standpipe and Sprinkler systems; High Rise Fire Safety Director Class E, and Freon Handler (CFC)

- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
