The Algorithm R&D Intern will be assigned to a functional Team Manager and an internship mentor. Work performed will be hands on, may contribute to a project as a whole, but does not directly impact the outcome.

At the conclusion of the internship, the intern will have a clear understanding of how their project directly contributes to their course of study and/or the medical device industry.

This is a part-time summer internship position, working with the Algorithm Team at Kestra.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES **

- Project: A defined project will be assigned for completion over the internship term. Responsibilities will include creating a plan/schedule, completing basic technology research, and applying machine learning to existing data sets to improve predictive performance. The outputs will include a detailed report and presentation. A project mentor will be assigned to help provide guidance and conduct regular check-in meetings (1:1's).

- Project Report: A report will be generated documenting results.

- Project Presentation: At internship end, the internship project results and findings will be presented to the engineering team and executives.

**Requirements**

**QUALIFICATIONS **

**Education/Experience Required: **

- 3rd year or higher undergraduate in Engineering or Data Science discipline

- Working knowledge of MATLAB and/or Python

- Strong written and oral communication skills

- Knowledgeable in Machine Learning

- Large data management experience

- Knowledge of navigating academic journal papers and translating findings

**Preferred: **

- Understanding of basic electrophysiology

- Knowledgeable in explainable Machine Learning

**WORK ENVIRONMENT **

- Indoor open office environment

- Minimal noise volume typical to an office environment

- Extended/overtime hours when needed

**INTERNSHIP ELIGIBILITY **

- Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within the past 6 months

- Must not have completed one year of continual employment with Kestra Medical Technologies

- Must be at least 18 years of age

- Must possess unrestricted work authorization

- Must complete a criminal and employment background screening that meets the allowable FDA requirements and is in accordance with EEOC rules and regulations

- Must complete a pre-internship drug screen

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS **

- Frequent repetitive motions that may include wrists, hands and/or fingers, such as keyboard and mouse usage

- Frequent stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time

- Frequent computers use

- Frequent phone and other business machine use

- Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds

- Occasional travel, domestic and international, may be required, less than 10%
